Daily Schedule

Arrivals: 7:30 – 10:00 a.m.
In our Leisure Room members will be offered a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate and a light snack while they enjoy socializing with each other and the staff. Members can work on activities they enjoy such as puzzles, painting, beading, reading, etc. or join in a small group table game. The television may be on in the background with episodes of The Lawrence Welk Show, I Love Lucy, or Good Morning America.

Morning Activity: 10:00 – 10:45 a.m.
Our group will move to our Activity Room for our first large group activity which varies from day to day. Members and families can check the activities calendar included with our newsletter for that day’s activities. Our staff will pick games and tailor them for the group attending that day with activities ranging from tabletop bowling, balloon volleyball, singing, cooking, and crafts.

Current Events/Trivia: 10:45 – 11:15 a.m.
The staff leads a discussion group about current local and national events. Often members are asked trivia questions as well and are given an opportunity to share life events or their own comments and opinions.

Armchair Exercise: 11:15 – 12:00 p.m.
Our exercise program is designed to keep the body active and prevent stiffness and deterioration by stretching muscles and rotating joints from head to toe. A staff member leads the group and encourages everyone to participate in the exercises as much as they are able.

Lunch Is Served: 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
Members may elect to receive a hot lunch through the Meals on Wheels program or bring a lunch from home. Staff members are available to open cans, heat up food in a microwave, and cut the meals for those who cannot do so for themselves. Members with special dietary needs or restrictions will always be accommodated. After lunch there is a rest and social period where members are free to socialize, enjoy a cup of coffee, and partake in a reminiscing or trivia game.

Active Game/Walk: 1:00 – 1:45 p.m.
Just after lunch our program shifts back to our Activity Room for an active game. The activity changes from day to day and will range from a tabletop shuffleboard, basketball, skee-ball, dancing, lawn darts, bean bag target, horseshoes, and other similar games. Often our staff will take those who are interested on a walk through the facility and outside if the weather is nice.

Passive Game: 1:45 – 2:30 p.m.
This time is set aside for activities that don’t require much walking around but will stimulate the mind. Once again families can check the activities calendar to see what is planned for that day. Several of the activities we choose from are Bingo, The Wheel of Fortune, The Family Feud, The Price is Right, sing-a-longs, crafts, reminiscing games, dice and card games, Pictionary, and magazine scavenger hunt.

Snack: 2:30 – 3:00 p.m.
Our group will return to the leisure room for a light snack that varies from day to day. We are lucky in that many of our families donate snacks and the types of foods we usually serve are cookies, crackers, fruit, breads, ice-cream, or something we made during an activity earlier that day.

Table Games/Departures: 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Many of our members will leave during this time. For those that remain the staff lead small group table games such as Uno, Yahtzee, and other board games.

Small Group and Individual Activities: 4:00 – 5:30 p.m.
Our few remaining members may continue playing table games with the staff, but may elect to work on individual hobbies that interest them. We have a variety of activities including puzzles, painting, reading, beading, listening to music, and socializing. Members may also bring hobbies from home to enjoy during this time.
