About Us
Our History
The Adult Day Service program was formerly a service of the agency HelpSource
for 16 years. When HelpSource made the decision to close its doors in
May of 2007, Revival Outreach Center
adopted the Adult Day program into its church as its own. This program,
the members, and staff made the transition July 1, 2007 without any complications.
Our Objectives
The objectives of the program are the same now as they were when we first
started this service. They are:
- To provide a supervised and structured program of
activities that will promote independence, be entertaining and educational,
and provide the opportunity to socialize in a safe environment.
- To delay or eliminate the need for institutional
care by making it possible for elderly population to live at home with
family or independently with support services.
- To provide relief and support services for caregivers.
What you Can Expect
The program is designed primarily for the elderly who may have physical
or emotional problems, dementias, such as Alzheimer’s Disease, psychiatric
problems, developmental disabilities, or for those who are merely in need
of socialization. Adult Day Services may just be “what the doctor
ordered” --- and in many cases this is literally true. The benefits
that are gained from Adult Day Services are many.
In this structured and therapeutic setting our members
can feel productive, gain a sense of self-worth, and enjoy life. For many
of the members, the center provides the only means of socialization and
recreation. Many types of activities are offered. For example: discussions,
crafts, singing, chair exercises, trivia, woodworking, board games, bingo,
parties, picnics, current events, baking, a hot noon meal, medication
reminding, and much, much more.
A caring staff assures that not only does the client
benefit from the program, family members can benefit from the support
and guidance on health issues, in addition to the all-important relief
from the constant responsibility of caring for a dependent relative or
spouse.
Funding
The program is funded in part by The Senior Alliance (AAA 1-C), Livonia
CDBG, Canton CDBG, The Information Center, The Office of Services to the
Aging, private fees, and private donations. There are grants available
to assist with the cost of the program for those members that qualify.
